How to Block a Payment on PayPal

You can block a payment on PayPal by using your account's blocking tools, opening a dispute, or contacting the merchant directly. The exact method depends on whether the payment is still pending or has already been completed.

Block a Specific Merchant

You can prevent future payments from a merchant before a transaction occurs.

• Log in to your PayPal account.
• Go to Settings, then select Payment preferences.
• Under Blocked payments, add the merchant's email address.
• Save your changes. Future payments from that merchant will be blocked automatically.

Cancel a Pending Payment

If a payment you sent is still pending, you may be able to cancel it.

• Go to your Activity tab.
• Find the pending payment and click Cancel.
• Confirm the cancellation. The funds will be returned to your account.

Dispute or Report a Completed Payment
