How to Do Mailchimp
Mailchimp is an email marketing platform you use to build audiences, design campaigns, automate sequences, and track results. If you are new to the tool, the workflow follows a predictable path: set up your account, prepare your audience, create a campaign, choose a sending option, and review reports. This guide walks through each step so you can run a basic Mailchimp campaign with confidence.

Signing Up and Setting Up Your Account
Go to mailchimp.com and click Sign Up. You will provide an email address, create a password, and enter basic business details such as your company name and website. After verifying your email, you land in the dashboard, where you can access Audiences, Campaigns, Automations, and Reports. Take a moment to update your profile and confirm your sending domain so future emails land in inboxes rather than spam folders.
Building Your Audience
An audience is the list of contacts you will send to. From the Audiences section, you can create a new audience and add contacts manually, import a CSV file, or connect a signup form on your website. You can also use Mailchimp's audience fields to segment subscribers by location, tags, or engagement so you can send more relevant messages later.
Creating a Campaign
From the Campaigns tab, click Create Campaign and choose a campaign type. Regular campaigns are standard one-off emails; automated campaigns let you trigger messages based on behavior such as signups or purchases. Once you pick a type, you choose a template or start from scratch, edit the content using Mailchimp's drag-and-drop builder, and preview the email on desktop and mobile before saving.
Sending Options and Automation
When you are ready, you can schedule the campaign for a specific date and time or send it immediately. For ongoing sequences, go to Automations and set up a workflow using triggers and actions, such as sending a welcome email when someone joins your audience. You can also set up A/B testing within a campaign to compare subject lines or content variations.
Tracking Results
After sending, return to Reports to see open rates, click rates, unsubscribe counts, and revenue attributed to the campaign. Use these metrics to refine your audience segments, adjust send times, and improve future content.
