Find Your Android Phone IP Address in Settings

Open Settings and go to About Phone or About Device, then tap Status or Network. You will see the local IP address listed there, usually in the format 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x. On newer Android versions, you may need to open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi or Mobile Network, depending on your connection type, and the device will display the assigned local IP address for that network. This is the most reliable way to find android phone ip address without installing extra apps.

Check the IP Address on Wi-Fi

For a Wi-Fi connection, open Settings, tap Network & Internet or Connections, then tap the active Wi-Fi network name. A details screen appears showing the local IP address. If you do not see it, tap Advanced or Network Details to expand the view. Your phone may list the IP under a field named IP Address, IPv4 Address, or Local IP. Write it down or screenshot it if you need it for setup or troubleshooting.

Find the IP Address on Mobile Data

Mobile data uses a different address than Wi-Fi. Open Settings, go to Network & Internet or Connections, tap Mobile Network or Cellular, and look for a section labeled Current Network or Network Details. The local IP address for the mobile data connection is shown there, though it may be labeled as Device IP or Phone IP. Some Android skins hide this under Advanced or Calling settings, so if you do not see it, try Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names and look for the active APN, which sometimes displays the IP there.

Use a Terminal or App for Extra Detail

If you need to confirm the address without guessing, you can open a terminal app on Android and run the command ip addr or ifconfig, depending on your tools. The output lists the active interface, and next to inet or inet6 is the IP address. Be careful with commands from unknown sources, and only use ones you trust. This method is helpful when the Settings menu does not show the IP clearly or when you are checking IPv6 or a VPN address that does not appear in the normal status bar.

Find the Public IP Address

The public IP is the address your phone shows to the internet, not the local one. You can find it by visiting a site like whatismyip.com or checking your router's admin page for connected devices. On your phone, open a browser and go to any IP lookup site; it will show the public IP assigned by your carrier or VPN. If you use a VPN, the public address is the VPN server's address, not your local network one.
