How to Import Fonts to Illustrator

Importing fonts into Illustrator is straightforward once your system recognizes the files and Creative Cloud is set to sync them. You install fonts at the operating system level or through Adobe Creative Cloud, then they become available in Illustrator's font menus without extra steps inside the app itself.

Install Fonts on Your Operating System

On macOS, double-click the font file and click Install Font, or drag it into Font Book. On Windows, right-click the font file and select Install, or drag it into the Fonts folder in Control Panel. Once installed, restart Illustrator if it was already open.

Use Adobe Creative Cloud Fonts

Creative Cloud syncs fonts across devices automatically. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app, go to the Fonts tab, and click Activate next to any font you want. You can also browse and activate fonts directly in Illustrator's font dropdown by clicking the hamburger menu and choosing Adobe Fonts.
