Limitations and Alternatives
The built-in recognizer works well for standard typed documents but struggles with handwritten text, heavily stylized fonts, or very low-quality scans. In those cases, running the file through a dedicated third-party OCR engine before importing it into Bluebeam can produce better results. Once the enhanced PDF is in Revu, the text layer persists and you can continue working with it using Revu's standard markup and measurement tools.
Bluebeam also does not currently offer real-time text recognition in the web or mobile viewers, so any OCR work must be done in the desktop application. Keeping the desktop app up to date ensures access to the latest recognition improvements and language support added by Bluebeam in each release.
