How to Remote Play on PC
Remote play on PC lets you stream games from a console or another computer to your current machine, turning any location into your gaming setup. The method you choose depends on whether you are accessing a PlayStation, a Steam library, or a powerful gaming PC elsewhere on your network.

PlayStation Remote Play on PC
To stream from your PS4 or PS5 to a Windows PC, start by installing the PlayStation Remote Play application from the Microsoft Store or the official Sony website. Sign in with your PlayStation Network account, then put your console into Rest Mode and enable Remote Play in Settings. On your PC, select the console from the list and begin streaming. A wired Ethernet connection and a 5 GHz Wi-Fi band provide the most stable experience, and a DualSense or DualShock 4 controller connected via USB ensures full input support.
Steam Remote Play on PC
Steam Remote Play lets you stream a game running on one computer to another on the same network, or to a Steam Link device. On the host PC, open Steam and go to Settings then Remote Play, and check the box for enabling Steam Remote Play. On the client PC, launch Steam, open your library, and click the Remote Play icon next to a compatible title. The host machine handles all rendering, so the client PC does not need to meet the game's hardware requirements, only a stable connection of at least 15 Mbps for 1080p streaming.
Using Moonlight and Parsec for Game Streaming
For remote play from a Windows or Linux gaming PC, Moonlight and Parsec are the two leading options. Moonlight works with NVIDIA GPUs that support GameStream, while Parsec uses its own server software and supports AMD and Intel GPUs as well. Install the host application on the gaming PC, create an account or pair the devices, then use the client app on your target machine. Both support keyboard, mouse, and controller input, and Parsec adds support for multiple monitors and cloud hosting if you rent a remote server.
What You Need for the Best Experience
- A host device running the game or console with Remote Play enabled.
- A client PC, phone, or tablet with a compatible app installed.
- A local network with at least 15 Mbps of bandwidth for 1080p at 60 Hz.
- A wired controller or a Bluetooth controller that the streaming app supports.
- For console streaming, the host console in Rest Mode with Remote Play enabled in settings.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you experience lag or stuttering, connect both machines to the same router over Ethernet, disable VPNs, and close bandwidth-heavy background applications. For controller input delays, use a USB wired connection instead of Bluetooth. If the stream fails to connect, verify that both devices are on the same network, that the host is awake and signed in, and that firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the streaming app's port.
