Set up your business on Google Maps
Setting up a business on Google Maps starts with creating or claiming a Google Business Profile, verifying that you own the location, and publishing accurate details so customers can find you. The process is free, but getting it right matters because the profile drives local search results and map clicks.

Create or claim your Google Business Profile
Go to business.google.com and sign in with a Google account. If your business already appears, click "Claim this business" and follow the prompts. If it does not exist, click "Add your business to Google" and choose the appropriate category.
Choose a primary category
Select the category that best describes your main service or product. This is the strongest signal Google uses to decide when to show your listing, so be specific rather than broad.
Enter your business name and address
Use the exact name customers know you by. For the address, enter the physical location where you conduct business. If you serve customers at their location or online, you may mark your business as serving that area without a storefront.
Verify your location
Google must confirm you operate at the address you listed. Verification options include a postcard mailed to your business, a phone call, email, or video verification, depending on your business type and location. You cannot publish your profile publicly until verification is complete.
Add essential business information
Once verified, complete your profile with hours of operation, a phone number, a website URL, and a description of your services. Upload photos that show your storefront, interior, and team. The more complete your profile, the more useful it is to nearby customers.
Manage your listing over time
Check your profile regularly for new reviews, messages, and suggested edits. Respond to customer reviews and update hours during holidays or special closures. A well-maintained profile stays eligible to appear in Google Maps and local search results.
