You can turn on an air conditioner without a working thermostat by cutting power to the unit at the breaker, using a smart-plug schedule, or jumping the thermostat wires at the air-handler. Method 1: Use the Breaker as a Power Switch

The simplest way to force the AC on is to flip the dedicated breaker back on after a reset. This works when the thermostat is dead or disconnected but the unit itself is fine. Once the breaker is on, the condenser and air handler should receive power, though the blower may run only if the thermostat calls for cooling.
