Approved for certain relapsed or refractory B-cell lymphomas, CAR-T can produce durable remissions in patients who have exhausted other options. Serious side effects including cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity require treatment at experienced centers.
Choosing a Treatment Path
Treatment selection depends on a matrix of factors: histological subtype, Ann Arbor stage, International Prognostic Index score, molecular markers such as double-hit genetics, patient age, and comorbidities. A treatment plan should balance the chance of cure or long-term control against the risk of short- and long-term toxicity.
