How Duplex Printing Works

The process is fully automatic once duplex mode is enabled in the driver or control panel.
Types of Duplex Printers
Not all duplex printers are the same. The main distinction is between internal and external duplexing.
- Internal duplex printers have the reversing mechanism built into the printer itself, making them true all-in-one duplex devices.
- External duplex units are add-on accessories that attach to a standard printer to enable two-sided printing.
- Manual duplex printing requires the user to reinsert the paper to print the second side; this is not true duplex but is sometimes conflated with it.
